League of Legends kicks off Season 2024
Riot Games has spoken about the future of the game itself and its cybersports component, as well as highlighted plans for 2024, which include the release of the second season of the series “Arcane.”
The second season of Arcane will be released in November 2024. To commemorate the event, Ambessa Medard, a character from the first season, will appear in the Gorge. In addition, the second half of 2024 will see gameplay elements and imagery inspired by “Arcane” in the League, and another audience favorite from the series will be updated.
The visual upgrade (VIO) of the champion Skarner is almost complete. He will head to the Gorge, shining with a brand new shell, in the first half of the year. After Skarner, the team will turn its attention to updating the other two champions: the character “Arcane”, who will be brought in line with the series version, and Shivana, whose gameplay the team will pay special attention to.
Rammus and Olaf will get new looks in 2024. The first half of the year will see the release of prestige looks for Rakan, Ezreal, Kindred, Evelynn and Kale.
The first event of the season will be the Moon Feast, in honor of which the Heavenly Serpents and new Porcelain images will appear in the Gorge.
The first half of 2024 will also see new images from the existing lineups in the game: Porcelain, Fairy Kingdom, PROJECT and Blood Moon. And old legendary images will get frameworks. These are Brolaf, Corporate Mundo, Tristana the Dragon Tamer.
This year the development team will try to improve the principle of skill evaluation in ranked games to avoid situations when you have to play with someone (or against someone) of a completely different rank.
In addition, in the first half of the year, the champion skill system will be adjusted.
Riot Vanguard will be introduced in LoL due to player complaints about the large number of bots and alternate accounts, as well as the frequent use of scripts. The introduction of Vanguard will allow real-time match completion and LP recovery for matches where cheating or bots are detected.
On the cybersports front, the authors will continue to increase the importance of MSI and its connection to the World Championship. Therefore, in 2024, the team that wins the MSI will receive a guaranteed trip to the World Championship. The region with the second best result will also get another spot, but it will not be assigned to a specific team.
As previously announced, MSI-2024 will be held from May 1-19 in Chengdu, China. The World Championship will be held from September 25 to November 2, 2024. The preliminary and Swiss system matches will take place at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at the Adidas Arena in Paris, while the final will be held at the O2 Arena in London.
