Fight zombies in the United States of Japan in the new trailer for the action film Showa American Story

NEKCOM Games has released a new trailer for the action game Showa American Story, immersing players in an alternate, post-apocalyptic America of the 1980s. The video depicts a “United States of Japan,” where cities like San Francisco and New York have adopted Japanese architecture and aesthetics, and the streets are overrun by zombies and gangsters. Players take control of Choko, a teenager resurrected from the dead with a mysterious power that will help her survive and fight hordes of enemies.

The combat system offers dynamic encounters with a variety of opponents, including bosses, with the ability to combine melee weapons, firearms, and unusual gadgets. The developers encourage players to experiment with combat styles and ability combinations.

Beyond combat, the game evokes the atmosphere of the 1980s: Choko travels in a large RV, which serves as her home. The vehicle can be upgraded and customized, and the heroine’s stats can be upgraded through exploration and resource gathering. These will be useful for crafting new weapons, costumes, collectibles, and experience. The game will also feature nostalgic minigames that add variety to the gameplay.

Showa American Story will be released on PC in 2026.
