A new turn-based roguelike from RocketPunch Games with charming but dangerous creatures and a very interesting combat system. In this review, we’ll see if these creatures have what it takes to become something great, or if they’re just too adorable for that.

Something has gone wrong in the city. All sorts of otherworldly creatures roam the streets. The main character will have to form an invincible team to get to the center of the city and figure out what is going on. Along the way, all sorts of help and chaos awaits him. Will he be able to save the city?

Anomaly Collapse has a few elements , but most of the time should be spent in map view or in combat.
On the left side of the map are the characters and their health. By clicking on them, you can see their characteristics and equipment. There are also various nodes that are available to explore. At the top of the screen is the investigation counter. The event usually happens when it is half full. You can fight a boss in this area once the meter is depleted. The meter fills up as you complete the combat nodes.

There are several different nodes in Anomaly Collapse . Most of them have a move counter on them showing when they expire. This means that you can’t explore every node that pops up. Sometimes choosing the right one can be a difficult decision. These nodes include:

  • A store where you can buy and sell anomalies.
  • Events where you can find anomalies, currency, or unlock content for future runs.
  • Hiring nodes that allow you to add a character to your group.
  • Combat nodes where you face regular or elite enemies.
  • A boss at the end of each area.

When you select a battle node, a preview of the factors that will affect that particular battle is provided. This is where you can see the loot available after the battle is over. There is always a random factor that affects all combat nodes in a given area. Some nodes may have additional factors that can make the battle even more challenging.

Anomaly Collapse uses a grid-based combat system. However, this grid is just a single line a few squares wide. Controlling this line can mean life or death, and positioning decides everything.

At the beginning of the battle there is a turn schedule. This is based on each character’s initiative and does not change during the battle. There will be a certain number of rounds in which you must try to complete the battle. If you complete all of these rounds, the insanity phase will begin. This means that the enemies become tougher and more of them will appear on the battlefield.

Characters and enemies will move back and forth on the grid to get in the best position for their attacks. There can be up to 3 standard units per square. Once a cell reaches its limit, a unit cannot move into or past that cell. However, certain abilities or combat factors can break this rule. As a result, the square becomes crowded. When a square goes beyond its capacity, all units on that square take negative effects and damage until they begin to move.

Anomaly Collapse offers a choice of 8 different characters . The game starts by unlocking three characters. The others are unlocked as you progress through the game. Each character has its own play style and interaction with other units. You can have up to 3 characters in a group at the same time.

Experience points will be awarded to characters after each battle. As they level up, their characteristics will increase, which means more damage. Each character also has their own unique set of traits that can be unlocked. These include things like leader traits, character specific anomalies, and characterization modifiers.

Anomalies are the name of equipment in the game. Each unit has a character-specific anomaly that they start with. After each battle, an additional anomaly will be revealed. You will be able to choose from 3 options.

When you select an anomaly after combat, the game shows under each option if there are any synergies with your current characters or existing gear. This is a very useful life-enhancing feature, and it can often help in creating powerful combinations.

So, with all of the above in mind, is Anomaly Collapse worth a try? Well, don’t let the charming creatures fool you. It’s quite a challenging game. If you like turn-based roguelike games that don’t hold back the punches, then you’ll love this game.

Anomaly Collapse has a lot of good elements to it. Its combat has a lot of strategic depth, with all the different elements such as combat factors, positioning, and collision being taken into account. You will face a huge variety of enemies in each run. There is even a large variety of unique bosses to battle. This way, you will never feel like you are fighting the same thing over and over again.

All that being said, yes. Get Anomaly Collapse if you’re a turn-based game fan , a fan of roguelikes and of course if you’re a fan of challenging games. Even if you don’t like the charming characters, this game is worth playing because of all its deep strategy.
