Valve has added a full category system to wishlists on the Steam digital store

The Steam digital store has received an update that completely redesigns the way users interact with their wishlists. The platform’s developers have added the long-awaited ability to create custom categories and assign them to any game on their wishlist. Players can now quickly organize games into separate folders, for example, for co-op play with a controller, gifting to friends, or as a result of major game presentations.
In addition, users can now flexibly customize notifications so that important store alerts are sent to their inbox only for specific product categories. The search function on the wishlist page now autocompletes words, and hovering over a game image now automatically launches a short microtrailer. Furthermore, the interface now features special markers for games with available demos, which can be subscribed to separately.
Valve’s programmers have significantly improved the overall contrast and readability of pages, as well as increased the stability of the service across browsers, the Steam client, mobile devices, and the SteamOS operating system. A key innovation is the advanced link sharing system, which allows gamers to share a specific, filtered subset of their game list with others, rather than the entire list. A dedicated button at the top of the screen instantly generates a unique URL for sending to friends and family.
This unique link allows third-party users to freely browse the selected game category, even if the owner’s account is completely hidden by general privacy settings. The creator can revoke this access at any time in the profile management menu. This tool allows family members to easily purchase and gift the game they want for a holiday or birthday, even if they don’t have a personal Steam account.
