Thief Simulator 2 REVIEW

After the successful release of Thief Thief Simulator in 2018, PlayWay is releasing a sequel that contains even more gameplay features than its predecessor.

Thief Simulator 2 tells about the career of an unnamed burglar. According to the plot, the protagonist owes a large sum of money, and now he, guided by a mysterious voice from a mobile phone, will have to pull off a series of robberies to pay off creditors.

However, it will not be limited to collecting everything that is bad: the employer loads his ward with various kinds of assignments – then you need to follow someone, then throw a suspicious-looking package into the house, and so on. In the end, it all boils down to an unnoticeable penetration into the site (into a house, store or other object), but along the way you can wander through the rooms, rummage through the drawers and pick up everything of value.

Not every item, however, will be able to be stolen at the initial stages of the passage. Locked doors, safes, alarm systems can become an insurmountable obstacle for a novice thief. To be able to hack advanced security devices, you need to gain experience and learn the appropriate skills. And at the same time, to pump up the skill of silent movement, master the control of a quadcopter, learn how to spy on victims and plan your actions based on their schedule.

The project is filled with game mechanics that are closely intertwined with each other. Here you can drive a car and silently knock out guards, shovel valuables into a backpack and hide from cops in trash cans, and in between missions, sit in a shelter where you can sell loot, buy hacking tools, acquire information about places interesting to a thief, take additional tasks, decorate your house.

There are many gameplay systems in Thief Simulator 2, but their implementation may not be perfect. The owner of the house can smell a burglar entering the room even through the wall. Cops spawn in the most unexpected places and knock out the protagonist with one well-aimed shot. During the chase, a light push from a police car is enough to be detained and sent to the police station. Lockpicking falls far short of similar mechanics from Skyrim and Fallout, which it is obviously inspired by.

On top of all of the above, the nights are incredibly dark here. Going “to the point”, you will carefully look at the screen, trying to figure out what is happening in the game. Graphics are far from advanced, and performance can sometimes be unpleasantly surprised by frame rate drops. In some places, the sequel looks worse than the first part.

Thief Simulator 2 is not just a sequel, it is a testament to the evolution of stealth games. The game goes beyond traditional stealth, offering a dynamic experience that requires players to be adaptable and creative. Whether you are an experienced robber lover or a beginner in the world of stealth, Thief Simulator 2 offers an exciting journey that satisfies both the thirst for intellectual challenges and the thirst for exciting excitement.
