Rumor: Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be announced this summer and released in early 2027

Since the beginning of this year, rumors have been circulating around the Hogwarts Legacy universe regarding a possible release of a sequel next year. These rumors are partly being fueled by the developers at Avalanche Software, who are currently actively recruiting new staff, including community managers. This time, new insider information has surfaced online, revealing more specific plans from the game’s creators.

The information was shared by the fan resource PotterWorldW, which specializes in rumors and news about the Harry Potter franchise. A short post on the social network X claims that the official announcement of Hogwarts Legacy 2 will take place very soon, with the project itself scheduled for release in 2027. The developers are reportedly planning to match the release window of the first game, tentatively releasing the project in January or February of next year.

Summer Game Fest, one of the major summer gaming festivals, could be an ideal venue for the presentation. However, many players have reacted to this timeframe with considerable skepticism. For the modern gaming industry, releasing a large-scale sequel to a AAA open-world game just four years after the first installment seems a near-impossible task. Skeptics believe that even if the game is revealed this summer, the actual release will likely be pushed back to at least 2028.

We can only wait for the official summer presentations to find out whether Avalanche Software is truly ready to delight fans with the announcement of a sequel.
