NVIDIA is back to work on the RTX 50 SUPER: the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti will receive 24 GB of GDDR7, the RTX 5060 - 12 GB

Insider MEGAsizeGPU reports that NVIDIA has resumed development of the GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series of graphics cards. The project was previously suspended due to high demand for AI GPUs and memory shortages, but work has now resumed. A specific release date has not yet been set, but the insider expressed confidence that the new cards will appear this year.

Expected models and VRAM capacities:

RTX 5080 SUPER: +8 GB (from 16 to 24 GB)
RTX 5070 Ti SUPER: +12 GB (from 12 to 24 GB)
RTX 5070 SUPER: +6 GB (from 12 to 18 GB)
RTX 5060 (possibly called 5060 SUPER): +4 GB (from 8 to 12 GB)

All new cards will use 3 GB GDDR7 modules, up from 2 GB on current models. For example, the RTX 5060 with a 128-bit bus will be able to support 12 GB of memory without a bus expansion.

Memory availability remains challenging, but NVIDIA plans to supply AIC partners with pre-built GPU and memory kits. The company itself has not yet publicly confirmed the release of the RTX 50 SUPER series. The SUPER launch was previously delayed due to a GDDR7 shortage and the reorientation of its capacity toward AI solutions.
