JDM: Japanese Drift Master has received a major update – multiplayer is finally here, and the story campaign has become larger
The developers of JDM: Japanese Drift Master have released one of the largest updates since the game’s release. The main new feature is the long-awaited multiplayer mode for PC, but the patch also expands the single-player campaign, adds new competitions, and includes a large number of long-requested community fixes.
The main highlight of the update is online competitions. Players can now participate in races directly from the open world or through the main menu. A total of 15 races are available, divided into three categories: classic grip races, drift competitions, and 1v1 duels. Most modes can accommodate up to eight players simultaneously.
Among the new challenges, the developers highlight drifting around Lake Haikama, high-speed racing on the highways of Guntama, and the famous Tofuna mountain section, where both grip races and drift duels are available. Thus, multiplayer utilizes both the game’s open world and individual race tracks, offering a variety of competition scenarios. Single-player fans haven’t been left out either. The free “Side Story” campaign, dedicated to Ayumi, adds eight new story events, designed in the manga’s signature style. Completing it completely will earn players a unique Ayumi car. The expansion is available to all owners of JDM: Japanese Drift Master at no additional cost.
The update also brings numerous bug fixes and gameplay improvements. PlayStation and Xbox owners will have to wait a bit longer for the multiplayer mode to arrive: the story expansion and technical fixes are already available on consoles, while online competitions will be released later. However, the developers have already added basic support for Fanatec wheels for PlayStation 5, which will be welcome news for sim racing fans.
Judging by the patch’s content, the developers are continuing to actively develop JDM: Japanese Drift Master, gradually transforming it from a primarily single-player game into a full-fledged platform for fans of Japanese car culture and online competitions.
