Grounded 2 received a major update, The Toxic Tangle, with a new biome and mountable ladybugs

Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal have released the first major update for Grounded 2’s survival game. The patch, titled The Toxic Tangle, significantly expands the game, adding both new content and reworked systems.

The main new feature is the Overgrown Garden biome—a vertical exploration zone with hidden caches, unusual routes, and dangerous creatures. Players will navigate pumpkin patches and carrot jungles, mastering the multi-level space and discovering new secrets.

One of the most unusual features of the update is the introduction of mountable ladybugs. These creatures serve as both transportation and combat allies: they can ram enemies, use a water cannon, and regenerate health over time.

The Toxic Tangle also adds new enemies, including earwigs, Colorado beetles, and fuzzy aphids, while bosses include a mysterious masked figure and a colossal snake. The mutation system has been reworked and now divided into active and passive effects, and the BUILD.M construction mode has received significant improvements. The update also includes new Garden MIX.R and O.R.C challenges, resources, weapons, and crafting items, with some cosmetics available in the Founder’s Pack.

Grounded 2 has been in Early Access on PC since July 2025 and has already surpassed the original in peak online player count on Steam. The 2026 roadmap has been published, and Russian language support remains on the roadmap.
