Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won Game of the Year and set an all-time record at The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards 2025 ceremony, held last night, will forever be remembered in the gaming industry thanks to the phenomenal triumph of Sandfall Interactive. Their turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, set an all-time record for the awards, taking home an unprecedented number of statuettes, including the evening’s main prize, Game of the Year.

The project won in nearly every category it was nominated for. It received accolades for Best Direction, Narrative, Soundtrack, Acting (Jennifer English), and even Best Independent Game.

Upon receiving the top statuette, Creative Director Guillaume Broch was overwhelmed with emotion. From the stage, he thanked Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy), calling him the main inspiration behind his decision to become a game developer.

To celebrate their victory, the developers have given all fans a gift: a free update is now available for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, adding a new weapon, boss, and other content.
