According to an insider, a new installment of Red Dead Redemption is already in development

1

It has been reported online that Red Dead Redemption 3 is “officially in development”. This could be due to Grand Theft Auto 6 coming to the end of its development cycle and preparing for its upcoming announcement and subsequent release, causing Rockstar to switch its focus to Red Dead Redemption 3, which will likely be another six to seven years away from release.

The leak comes from MyTimeToShineH, who also recently posted that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is in development. Of course, MyTimeToShineH is more of a movie guy, specializing in Marvel and DC, and since these leaks have yet to be confirmed by anything, it’s worth it when this man has a track record related to video games. But in the realm of movies, he’s made a lot of correct “predictions”.

Either way, it seems obvious that Rockstar will be working on Red Dead Redemption 3 in some way – we just can’t say what the game will look like. Speculation is circulating online that Red Dead Redemption 3 will be a prequel to the prequel and will take place before the events of Red Dead Redemption 2.

If this is the case, the game will feature the Van Der Linde gang in its early days, if it focuses on these characters at all. It would be appropriate for the game to precede the events in Blackwater that resulted in the gang being dispersed at the beginning of Red Dead Redemption 2, similar to how the events at the end of that game eventually led to the beginning of Red Dead Redemption 2010.
